THESE GUNS ARE IN NO WAY COMPATIBLE!

Do not be fooled, Laser Challenge Gear (shown on the right) is cheap outdated gear that should only be bought for little kids.  The guns sold in these boxes are a re-use of an old design that came out in the 80's.  They are fine for little kids indoors, but not near as good as the LTTO sets.

It has  recently been brought to our attention, that Jakk's Pacific is trying to pull a fast one on the consumer and tagger community.    In a cheap attempt to steal sales from LTTO, they have copied the style of the LTTO box.   LazerTag Team Ops, or LTTO (guns on the LEFT, and featured on this page) is the leading technology in the consumer market and is the gear featured on this web page.  Do not be fooled into buying these deceptive boxes!

OUR REVIEW.. DELUXE Set

Good Points

-VERY DURABLE...the hardware used to create these guns makes the design well worth the cost of the gun - no cheep micro switches that wear out with an hours worth of use or tether cords that sometimes come broken right out of the box (hint, hint, hint to Laser Challenge designers!).

-LOADED WITH BELLS AND WHISTLES - This system is like a video game controller, loaded with optional buttons.  The system has adjustable hit points, shields, and other features.

- BUILT IN GAMES - for those new to laser tag and those who are old vets, these built in games like HIDE N SEEK give the system a new dimension which makes the gear all that more usable.

- WELL WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS - many game companies could learn from these instructions.  The manual is thorough enough to fully understand the gear - simple enough that most people will find them easy to understand (no stereo instructions here) .  Fun enough to make what would otherwise a dry boring document easier to read.  TWO THUMBS UP to whoever wrote this manual....job well done!

- LOCK ON feature that allows you to know when you actually have someone lined well enough to land a tag before pulling the trigger and giving away your position.

-SCORING FEATURE - although this only works in the GAME modes, and 1SLT generally promotes team based games were individual scoring is not important, we found the ability at the end of a game to see how you rated amongst your team and see who actually shot who not only to be very entertaining - but also a means to finally see who really is the tagger extraordinaire and who is just full of hot air!

-GREAT RANGE AND SUNPLAY  - unlike many other systems that are on the market, this system gets great range even in full sunlight.....finally a system that is on the same technical level as gear put out back in the 80's ...technology finally moves forward again instead of backwards (yes I'm referring to the recent Cyber Shot and Laser Challenge systems).

-HEADS UP DISPLAY – although eventually we discarded these as they were too uncomfortable for most of usÂ…they served as a great tool to help learn all the sounds and quirks of the systemÂ….also helps in aiming.  Who knows a little cushioning and bending and these would be more comfortable.  The best thing though is that the gun system works fine with or without them.

Not So Good Points

- SINGLE SENSOR ON GUN - this is a major drawback as it is too easy to hide the sensor - even unintentionally.  This is the only major drawback to this system - HOWEVER, in the several games we played using this equipment, everyone still had a blast.  A set of SHOW YOUR SENSOR WHEN SHOOTING rule has to be applied when using this gear - but that can actually be a bonus if you are using this system as a learning tool for Youth Groups.

- LOADED WITH BELLS AND WHISTLES - This system requires a bit of a learning curve, and can be very frustrating to those who refuse to read instructions.  Our suggestion is to play several learning games during which you attempt to learn and use a new feature of the system one feature at a time.

-AIMING A BIT BIZZARE - We found this gun to be difficult to aim...the sights are on the side - forcing you to fire the gun sideways like a "gangsta".  However, about 10 minutes of practicing shooting from the hip gunslinger style against a gun being held still seems to eliminate this problem.    Before shooting from the hip, practice a bit using the sights on the side of the gun.  These sites are generally perfectly aligned and will help you land a hit every time.

-TOO MANY SOUNDS THAT SOUND THE SAME  - this system is like trying to fly an F-16 with all kinds of bleeps and beeps...  We had a hard time to discern whether we were tagging or being tagged - which lead to allot of confusion.  Once again, this can be overcome by taking time at the beginning to practice with the system and learn the different sounds and symbols on the LCD before actually playing a serious game.

Conclusion

This new system is great for all age groups over 7.   Warning, some older groups my find this system to be techno challenging - but careful review and reading of the instructions will quickly overcome this obstacle.

We give this system 2 thumbs up!  It definetly beats anything else currently on the market, and gives the older ESS (our favorite) system a run for the money.  We recommend this system for youth groups and clubs alike.  The price of roughly $50 for 2 guns is worth every penny.  We like the system so much that we are selling off most of our Laser Challenge Rental guns and switching over to this system.

WHERE CAN I GET THIS GEAR!

NOTE:  If you plan on buying this gear, and you find it in stock - buy it when you see it!  All major online vendors are having a hard time keeping this gear in stock.

This gear can be found in many department stores such as Walmart, Target.  Last we heard Toys R Us stopped carrying this gear - once again proving they only care about profit, and not their customers.    If you live in a rural area,  we have put links to major internet sellers of this gear for your convenience.  By clicking through these picture links you also help us keep our website going.  If you live outside the U.S. or the U.K., and would like to get some of this gear, please email me at droman@1sourcelasertag.com.

USA - Amazon.com has the broadest range of this gear the original sets and the new sets as well!

As a last resort, we offer to go out and buy this equipment for our website users.  The cost is $55 for a deluxe set (2 guns/sensors/huds) per set.   Our website will also charge $20 for shipping per gun...this is adjust the actual shipping cost before making a final charge to your account.  So your final cost is $55 per set purchased + actual shipping.

cover

$55.00 + shipping is a bit high, so we advise checking all other sources above before purchasing the gear with us!   Also too, be aware that the supplies in the stores here are not infinite...for orders of more than 2 sets, it might take a bit to get all the gear together.

Do you live outside the U.S. and want to get some of this gear - write to me about our international sales program! <click here>
