My intent with 1 Source Laser Tag.com (1SLT, this website) has always been to build a community of users that will benefit from sharing information. I'd like to see 1SLT become a central hub that anyone can go to and find a link to or information on just about anything having to do with Laser Tag.
The problem is that I am just one person - and not necissarily a very knowledgeable one at that. Nor have I had the amount of spare time that some others seem to enjoy.
So - To take 1SLT where I'd like it to be, will require the help of many people. However, work is work - why would anyone want to help make 1SLT bigger and better??? Well that is the purpose of this competition - to give users a reason to want to help build this community.
Let me be clear about one thing - 1SLT is not here to dominate other Laser Tag websites and communities - that is not my purpose! My purpose is to make 1SLT a gateway to all the other communities and services. I've set up this site not as a place to move information to - but rather a place where you can point to where the information is. To keep myself from forgetting this goal/task - you are pretty much stuck with text here - graphics are not allowed. You only need text to point the way... So you cannot add graphics in submitted items (well unless you are REALLY sneaky), this keeps 1SLT as an information pointer. Also, our downloads section doesn't allow users to upload things to our site, but rather place pointers to articles and information on their site. You can easily get the information from here but with the ability to let the reader know where the information is comming from.
Anyway... down to the point. This website (run with a modified version of pnuke) is set to keep track of what the members do on it. Points are given for most activites that are beneficial to building the website community.
At the end of the year, the member or members (depending on our cash flow at the time) with the highest amount of points will get the choice of a $100 check or a $150 shopping spree to buy anything in our store. Yes that does include the new Lazer Tag Phoenix LTX system. The winner(s) will be announced on Dember the 10th.
I'm not going to post what is worth how many points as I don't want to get into a debate with anyone on the value of different things. Basically I can say that things that are more difficult and take more time will give you more points.
The crucial thing though is that you have to be registered, and you must be signed in to recieve points for your actions.
There are all kinds of things to do on this website! For starters - there are a ton of sites out there that are not in our links system. Posting those is a major help. The site is also self moderated - if you find something broken, post there is usually a little option at the end of the article/link that allows a member to label the problem, which shows up on my admin screen to fix. Now of course if I go there an there is nothing to fix, no points will be given.
I do check all uploaded links, files, etc... so uploading bogus information will not only have your score reset to zero - but you stand a chance of being banned if you start wasting too much of my time with spam.
If we need new topics, or other modules added to various sections - please leave me a private message and I'll add it to the system.

Hopefully this will move 1SLT from the half failure / half success that it has been so far, to the full success that it should be.
